Behind The Music

Rae Marquez is a Texan singer-songwriter blending alternative rock, folk, and indie pop with lyricism that reflects life’s rocky yet thrilling passage of time. Inspired by artists like Steely Dan, Alanis Morrissette, Djo, and Adele, her sound focuses on capturing her lived experiences and moments of sonder throughout her life.

She is a classically trained oboist who went on to sign with UTalent Records, the University of Texas at Austin’s sole record label, in September 2022. With introspective lyrics and a grungy instrumental, her debut single “Be Aware” was released the following year in April.
